A beginner’s guide to RAZOR

Discover the future of sound with one of KOMPLETE's most powerful synths.

With these starter tutorial videos, the team at Point Blank Music School highlight the versatile nature of RAZOR. You will learn how to use additive synthesis to generate complex and evolving harmonics with ease, and more.

In this beginner’s overview you will learn more about RAZOR’s fundamental features, and take a walkthrough of the software’s GUI. Explore the synth’s unique oscillator properties, and learn how to use the synth’s filters and effects in order to manipulate your sound source into new territory.

Overview

In this first video, you will be familiarized with the different elements within RAZOR’s interface, including the oscillators, filter and modulation sources.

Oscillator

Here, we’re taken through the oscillator section of the synth, introducing some of the oscillator types. As we see in this video, some parameters are common to all oscillators, although others have some unique twists on designing sound.

Filters and effects

Additive filters and effects compliment the work already done with RAZOR’s oscillators in this final video, providing us with even more ways to manipulate the sound from within the synth.

You can learn more about RAZOR in-depth with Point Blank’s online Complete Native Instruments Sound Design Course which explores REAKTOR in its entirety, along with its many individual components.
