Watch: Snipe Young & DJ DNA packing a punch with INFAMOUS FLOW

Journey back to the golden age of hip hop as Snipe Young shows you how he made
the latest in the Expansions series.

Expansion pack INFAMOUS FLOW brings back 90s hip-hop flavour – courtesy of renowned producer Snipe Young and Native Instruments sound designer, Justin “DJ DNA” Adams. Check out the behind-the-scenes video we shot with Snipe Young and Justin, at the NI sound designer’s own Recordicons Productions Studio in Los Angeles.

Producer, engineer, and writer Snipe Young’s musical output has been all over the charts for years: The Grammy Award-winner has been a behind-the-boards collaborator with some of music’s biggest names, including Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Dr. Dre, Beyonce, and Justin Bieber, to name just a few. He’s also a renowned sample pack creator, having previously worked on popular Expansions GOLDEN KINGDOMLILAC GLARE, and STREET SWARM.

Young recently teamed up with Native Instruments producer and sound designer Justin Adams for our newest Expansion, INFAMOUS FLOW. It’s a throwback to the golden age of hip-hop: Think P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and Jermaine Dupri’s work with So So Def Recordings. The pack serves as a perfect set of building blocks for producers looking to create soulful, sample-based beats, with a sound and texture that harkens back to the 90s while still sounding decidedly modern.

INFAMOUS FLOW has been designed to integrate effortlessly with both MASCHINE and BATTERY, and also comes in the form of one-shots and loops that will work with any DAW. Drums and instrument samples have all been carefully tuned to work together in key, with everything from stabs to ghost notes mapped thoughtfully to the pads in an organized, colour-code fashion. “When I’m creating packs, I’m always thinking of them as a book,” Young says. “I played a lot of the instruments as loops and sampled that myself. I’m thinking of it as something I found in a crate – but I created it.”
