Philly-bred producer OddKidOut, born Butch Serianni, has been booming over the past several years, thanks largely to his superpower: he’s a finger-drumming wunderkind. With a new release of his “Solstice EP” on OWSLA, a record that fuses elements of trap music and hip hop with wide-ranging electronic sounds, Sounds.com sat down with Serianni in his studio to find out more about his production process, and what went into his exclusive, new sounds pack “Odd Sounds”.
Released exclusively on Sounds.com, “Odd Sounds” is a brand new collection of drums and melodic elements created by Serianni. The pack includes a range of one-hit samples and loops, ranging from 74 to 150 BPM, all recorded and edited to galvanize users in the production of future-forward beat music. From the experimental sound design of “Space Bell Doppler” to the wild syncopation of “Philly Swing Groove,” the pack provides a powerful source of sonic energy that’s ready to be layered, mangled, and recut.
Sounds.com has also teamed up with MetaPop to launch the official OddKidOut Producer Challenge. Create an original track using signature sounds from the OKO sample pack, and enter to win fresh production gear from Native Instruments. Check out the contest here.
