As a music producer, you’ve probably had that feeling where you realize the track you’re working on is suddenly the best track you’ve ever made; things start slotting into place, a mistake on the drum track ends up being a happy accident, and it seems you can do no wrong. That’s when the goosebumps come…
I’m Keir and I help to look after metapop – our community for music makers like you, run by music makers like you. Our main goal is to help everyone improve their production skills and have that feeling more often.
One way we do that is by running remix and production contests. If you head over to the site right now, you can download hundreds of professional stems from the likes of Flume, Jacques Greene, Jean Michel Jarre, Laidback Luke, and many more – it turns out big name artists are pretty generous if you ask them nicely. You can also get your track heard by the artists themselves, and get their feedback – along with that of thousands of other producers – to help you fix that muddy bass or dodgy drop. Plus you can win some amazing Native Instruments gear in the process.
We’ve run over 200 remix competitions to date with some very cool artists, but this month we have some of the coolest yet. Check them out:
She’s a musical pioneer from the LA Beat Scene who’s worked with Anderson Paak, Isaiah Rashad, Beck, Duran Duran, Olafur Arnalds, and ODESZA; she’s been Grammy-nominated; and has releases on Brain Feeder and Ultra – and now she’s gonna get remixed by you!
We’re so stoked to work with Warp Records and Electronic Beats to bring you a competition with a difference: Don’t remix a song, remix the sound of the genre-defying Battles’ entire Juice B Crypts album!
Tourist, Catching flies, and Clock opera
Feel the feels with three of the most beautiful tracks you’re going to hear this year. Stems from these three rising British artists are waiting for you right now.
A note from the metapop team
We know right now is a pretty crazy time, but the best thing about metapop is the community. It’s a really great crowd of music makers of all types, who just want to learn, support each other, and get better together. If you want to connect remotely with some like-minded producers, we’re all hanging out over in the metapop team chat channel – come say hi.
We hope you and your loved ones stay safe and well.
Warm wishes from the metapop team,
Keir, Krista, and Ben
