The latest software generation of Native Instruments’ flagship beat making and music production platform has landed. It’s the first software version available to buy on its own without Maschine hardware. And thanks to new and improved features like MIDI editing, it’s now much easier to craft a track from start to finish, without extra gear. There are plenty more fresh features like stem separation, Kontrol keyboard integration, a brand-new library, and free iZotope Ozone software included. Let’s dive in.
Community-requested features
Maschine 3 was designed to bring in as many requests from Maschine users as possible and the online community played a big role in this. There are many workflow improvements on board, like support for compressed file formats and more features which we’ll explore below.
What’s new?
Stem separation
You can now import any track and Maschine will identify bass, drums, vocals, and other elements at the click of the button. It’s powered by iZotope’s legendary RX technology which now also makes an appearance in Traktor Pro 4 software. Stem separation gives you so much more creative control and opens up a world of sampling possibilities.
Bounce in place
Want to flip a MIDI melody to audio and chop it up like a sample? No problem! Maschine 3 lets you render sounds, patterns, and ideas as audio, saving CPU power and opening up new creative possibilities.
MIDI editing
The improved suite of mouse MIDI editing tools make it easier to create a track from start to finish without additional gear. Split, join, erase, mute, MIDI notes, keyboard shortcuts, computer keyboard, and audible MIDI note previews will give you more control over your compositions than ever before.
Tempo per scene
You can now set custom tempos for each scene – so each section will hit different. This gives you deep control of the flow of a track and is an ideal tool for live performance.
Kontrol S-Series integration
Maschine 3 now includes basic integration with Kontrol S-Series MK3 keyboards. This includes transport controls and on-keyboard display of Maschine modules and thousands of NKS partner plugins.

New to Maschine?
Maschine is all about getting your musical ideas flowing. It’s a software hardware hybrid, that’s there every step of the way from beat making and sampling to arranging and performing your tracks. Sketch and arrange your ideas, use virtual instruments or samples to develop your track, mix it, and get it ready to share with the world – all in one application.
Spark ideas
Iterate melodies, beats, and loops with patterns and groups. Draw them in with your mouse, use a keyboard, or pair with Maschine hardware to play them in and create variations.
Arrange your track
Build patterns into tracks, arrange audio, mix levels, and fine-tune your track in Song mode. This is where those first ideas become fully-formed tracks.
Develop your sound
There’s always more to explore with Maschine. Route different effect chains, bring in external instruments, and create your own sounds from scratch using its built-in synths and effects.
Find what your track needs
With thousands of authentic virtual instruments from NI and our third-party developers you’ll find whatever sound you’re after. Plus, Expansions offer incredible quality sound packs, tailored for a huge range of different genres.
